Watch races in style at Gulfstream Park's revamped Flamingo Room

This weekend's Pegasus World Cup is one of horse racing's most anticipated events and Gulfstream Park is ready with a revamped Flamingo Room and delectable menu awaiting racing fans that day.

Ahead of this weekend's expected crowds, the VIP area/Flamingo Room was open for a special sneak peek to a select few. I felt privileged to be included among that group for although the Village of Gulfstream Park is a favorite of mine for shopping and events, I'd never experienced this gorgeous race viewing room.

The elegant Flamingo Room

This is Oreo, he was very friendly and playful.

And they're off!

They pulled out all the stops that day, handing out $5 vouchers for betting which was exciting to watch as the horses raced, except I didn't win anything. We also had the opportunity to visit the stables and get to meet the horses up close and personal. That was a true thrill, visiting such beautiful animals.

A mimosa to get the afternoon started.

The chef was in the spotlight that day as well and his food was phenomenal. From an all-carrot area where there were carrots prepared in a variety of ways including roasted baby ones, as a spread like a hummus and even as a refreshing juice shooter. There was fresh sushi galore of all varieties, Asian-inspired noodle salad, a carving station with the tenderest prime rib and cheeses of every kind. I mean who can resist a giant board filled with parmesan, cheddar, manchego, brie and gouda with crunchy breadsticks to accompany.

The desserts on display were both beautiful and delicious and because they were bite size, it was so hard not to keep going back to the table for more. Mini chocolate cakes that were oh so decadent, creamy panacota and other assorted mini pies. Dreaming about these as I write this.

It was an unforgettable afternoon lounging around the beautiful Flamingo Room, sampling so many lovely bites and watching those beautiful thoroughbreds break free on the track.

They're hosting quite a party in the Flamingo Room on Jan. 26 during The Pegasus World Cup with performances by Snoop Dogg and live DJ sets by Mark Ronson and Ross One. Click here to read about what's planned and ticket prices.
