Norman’s Tavern stands the test of time in North Beach
By Josie GulliksenOperating a restaurant in Miami-Dade County for 40 years is a testament to quality food, great atmosphere and stellar service and that’s what Norman’s Tavern in North Beach has been doing since they opened that m... many years ago.It features an elegant tavern feel with cherry wood high-top tables and chairs, a beautiful floor-to-ceiling liquor cabinet that spans one wall, small Tiffany lamps hanging over each table, two large pool tables and a large bar that spans the length of the restaurant. This is the perfect spot to grab a bite and a brew while watching one of any number of sporting events on one of their many flat screens. Outdoor café seating beckons as well, for customers who prefer to dine al fresco. In fitting with their upscale look, they pay close attention to their menu. Norman’s features grass-fed beef and organic chicken on their menu and delectable sushi-grade tuna which is served atop either their garden or Caesar salad. Of course, there are also appetizers, burgers, homemade soups, sandwiches and wraps, salads, sides and entrees. The menu has something for every taste.Plenty of attention is paid to happy hour too given that they offer two of them on a daily basis. There’s the traditional 4-7 p.m. one and they’ve also got a late night one from midnight to 5 a.m. They serve $4 cocktails and $5 martinis made with Skyy Vodka, Flor de Cana Rum and Espolon Tequila late night and half-price house wine, liquor and domestic beers along with $5 appetizer specials earlier in the day.Parking’s great in the evenings with complimentary service next door and aside from the traditional pro football and basketball games, they carry all the Ultimate Fighting Championship matches. It’s so popular for the fights that the UFC 155 lb. champ and the heavyweight champ both have visited Norman’s to catch the action.
