It’s so hot!
Yes, it was still very, very hot in Miami this past week. No idea why then, I decided to take a walk with Vance on Saturday morning but I figured it wouldn’t be too bad. Well… it was! We did see some adorable roosters though.
Then I went to distribute food and hand out back packs at a Back to School event with Be The Change South Florida and even though the area where we were standing was covered, it was outdoors and super hot.
That night, I attended the Sandrell Rivers Day event that I mentioned in my blog last week. There was so much talent on the stage that night, it was an amazing tribute to two amazing women. They also ran my article in Miami Times, click here to read it.
Sunday was a nice lazy day. I just stayed home, resting, relaxing and recuperating from Saturday.
Monday, I spent a good part of the morning at the beach. I had a little breakfast, enjoyed some time in the water and then headed home to get my work done. It was a great start to the week.
Tuesday I grabbed lunch at Dogma Grill on Biscayne Blvd. and instead of having a hot dog I ordered the South Philly, a grilled Italian sausage sandwich with potatoes, sweet peppers and grilled onions. A nice beer would’ve been nice with that but I opted for a Cherry coke. It hit the spot.
Thursday I went to pick up my brother Mario at the airport, he flew in to attend our niece Elena’s baby shower tomorrow. We spent the day chatting and catching up. Then that night I went to a quick dinner with my friend Janet to the new and improved Schnitzel House just minutes from my house. I had a delicious German sausage and mashed potatoes and she and I split a soft pretzel. The grainy mustard and grilled onions and sauerkraut that accompanied the sausage and pretzel were really good too.
Then today was another quiet day at home, getting a little work done, chatting with my brother and visiting with my neighbor across the street.
I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, celebrating my niece Elena and her partner AJ who will be welcoming a baby in mid September and seeing all my family.
And for your reading pleasure, here’s my latest article for Artburst Miami on an amazing organization VONA (Voices of our Nations Arts Foundation). Click here to read about them and their work to lift the voices of BIPOC writers.
Until next Friday, be well, be grateful and have a great weekend.
