Fashionistas filled The District Factory

Given that I'm a pretty big Andy Warhol fan, and this place is clearly named somewhat I would think after his infamous Factory celeb hang out of the 60's, I'd been wanting to check out The District Factory for a while and finally got the opportunity on Sept. 6th for the national Fashion's Night Out. There were several simultaneous events taking place at Village of Merrick Park and Aventura Mall but for me, the Design District was the place to be.So off we went, my BFF Monica and I, for a Thursday night of fun in honor of fashion. I'll admit, I'm not much of a fashionista but I appreciate fashion and love to accessorize (my collection of scarves is out of control). What we encountered when we arrived at the Collins Building where the pop-up District Factory was taking place that night, was nothing short of the place to be.The vibe was infectious. Cool outfits, outrageous jewelry designers -- B.A.L.D. was my favorite, an adorable  petite designer with her shaved head sporting a tattoo that read B.A.L.D., talking up potential customers -- a simple, yet striking chalk outline wall mural and complimentary cocktails of course. The purses, the clothes (I spotted Tracy Mourning checking out some duds), the accessories. The scene was packed with merchandise and people checking it and each other out. After all, fashionistas can be very competitive, it's all part of the game.Outside, the funky techno duo Afrobeta were puttin' on their best show for the audience and their fans were ecstatic to watch and sing along.Overall, it was a fun night and my curiosity about The District Factory is now satisfied. I'm sure I'll be back and definitely buy something, seeing as I was eyeing plenty of oversized rings and uber cool bracelets.
