Eventful, busy week, maybe too busy

It was a week filled with plenty of cultural events that I enjoyed immensely but also one that was just too busy with work. Something I told myself I wouldn’t do once I went freelance.

See, I committed to taking on more work with one of my editors but am now regretting it. I’d forgotten just how much work that website requires. That caused me a bit of stress, but nothing too horrible.

I also had the opportunity to interview some amazing people. They were the musicians Mike Rodriguez and Tony Succar with the super group Con Tumbao who will be performing at the Adrienne Arsht Center next month. Two great guys who took time to share their excitement and passion at being asked to join this stellar ensemble of players. Click here for info on their upcoming Miami show.

Powerful image done by Camillus House client Barry G. and the red dot means this piece was sold!

This very personal piece, which was also sold, was created by Julia S. who is part of Camillus House’s Project Phoenix program.

And this dainty, delicate piece was created by Betty G., another Camillus House client.

It was so nice running into mine and Vance’s friend Vicky Rey and her son AJ at the Camillus House exhibition.

Then there were the artists from yesterday’s exhibition, the creative, passionate and resilient clients from Camillus House’s Art Therapy program. I spent the entire night getting to know several of them and it was truly remarkable. I will be writing an article about this event for the Camillus House blog and will share a link when it’s posted.

Edouard Duval-Carrie’s piece in the Center for Visual Communication exhibition.

Bold colors and strong geometric lines by Karen Rifas, her contribution to “The Miami Creative Movement” exhibition.

I also attended a reception for the exhibition “The Miami Creative Movement” at the Center for Visual Communication in Wynwood that featured works by Miami artists and legends in my opinion, Edouard Duval-Carrie and Karen Rifas among many others. I’ve been a fan of their work for years now. I was also honored that photographer Barry Fellman who curated the show which features works by 15 Miami artists, autographed and gifted me his book by the same name.

Nicholas and his high school friend Melanie who is a Best Buddies ambassador, reunited at the Best Buddies Friendship Ball.

Saturday night Vance and I had an impromptu date night at the enchanting and romantic La Fresa Francesa in Hialeah while Nicholas enjoyed a night at the Best Buddies Friendship Ball at Milander Center just 10 minutes away. What an amazing meal we had!!!! Just look at the pictures above.

As you already know I always have to share anything I’ve had published since last Friday. Click here to read my article about a new sports/arts facility at Cushman School and click here to read my preview of the play “To Kill A Mockingbird,” both of which were published in Biscayne Times. I also want to share with you a great article about a few documentaries being featured at this year’s Miami International Film Festival which kicked off tonight.

That’s all for this week. I leave you with this gorgeous photo of the beach, I finally spent just a half hour relaxing at the end of a long day, watching the sun go down.

See you all next week! Until then…have a great one.
