Crispy Craize crackers, a tasty vegan treat
I love having a variety of crackers in my pantry, they’re great for a quick snack that can be transformed with lots of different toppings.
So when I was approached by the Miami-based company Craize about sampling their variety of vegan cracker options I jumped at the chance.
I’m so glad I did! I was excited to open up the box with four sample bags and the family watched in anticipation as I revealed what was inside.
They are small, flat crackers in a variety of flavors inspired by Venezuelan arepas. The Miami-based company was founded by Venezuelan-born Leonardo Cotter who used to visit Miami regularly and eventually relocated here. An extensive story in the Miami New Times details how his idea of the Craize crackers never took off in his home country but is a hit in the Magic City.
They currently carry a wide variety of flavors. Our package included the sweet corn which tastes the most like an original arepa, coconut with a mild taste that would be great topped with Nutella, guava and Everything with the popular “Everything” bagel seasoning which would be great with cream cheese and some smoked salmon.
We actually have been snacking on them plain and they’re fine that way but toppings would definitely make them taste even better. They’re sturdy crackers too and would hold up well.
Also available are the seeded, plantain (perfect for Miami!) and roasted corn varieties. Looking forward to trying all of those soon. Next time I go to Publix or Whole Foods I’ll have to pick some up.
Check out their website gocraize.com to see all these varieties and even get a free sample, something they’ll be offering soon.
