Concert, dinner, poetry & my photo

John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on guitar.

Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass, with signature hot pink hair adorned with one lone green dot. Sticker on his guitar read “support your local freak.”

I HAVE to start this week’s post with… THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS! I finally got to see them in concert on Tuesday at Hard Rock Stadium and it was a euphoric, zen-like experience. It reminded me all over again, why I LOVE live music. I fell in love with guitarist John Frusciante’s guitar playing and stage presence. His jams with bassist Flea were EVERYTHING AND MORE. What a fantastic night. Now I want to definitely go see Bonnie Raitt at the Broward Center, I’m hoping there are still tickets available.

Pretty gin cocktail from Beaker & Gray.

Saturday night, my husband and I went to dinner with our friends Kevin and Michelle and as always, it was a night filled with laughter and great stories. Great food, lots of wine and before AND after dinner cocktails too of course. We ate at Wayku in Wynwood where they’ve got a nice Miami Spice menu and then walked to one of our favorite spots Beaker & Gray for after dinner cocktails.

I shared in this blog last week a link to my article on the Escribe Aqui Writers Program and this Wednesday I attended the closing night event at Barry University. We listened to poetry recited both by the writers and by Barry students. I also got to meet Miami’s very own Richard Blanco, Poet Laureate who was the featured poet at Barrack Obama’s inauguration. It was truly an honor to meet him and we chatted for quite some time.

This week, my photo was featured in The New Tropic newsletter, click here to see it. And, I had an article featured in the Artburst Miami blog about the weekly Monday night art program Noche de Arte at the InterContinental Hotel in Downtown Miami. Click here to read the article.

Michael’s art

I realize too that I don’t mention my son Michael’s art enough but he made some cool pieces while in high school. He was in the Visual Arts magnet program at Dr. Michael Krop Sr. High. That’s one of his wood pieces in the picture above.

And I leave you with one last thing…these tasty stuffed green peppers I made for dinner this week.

That’s all but I’ll be back next week to tell you about this weekend’s sister trip to Tarpon Springs and whatever other fun events I attend and adventures I have!

Have a great one.
