Aventura Pubbelly's specials are worth checking out
The Pubbelly location in Aventura Mall is rather stunning, especially for being located in...a mall. But this is no average shopping destination this is
Aventura baby.
In the last few months, I've had the opportunity to experience two specials they're running here, their Sun's Out, Buns Out menu which runs through Nov. 30 and a delectable and very affordable lunch menu.
I first tried the Bao Buns back in mid-September and was blown away at the prices and the variety. They're all priced between $10 and $13 and are filled with either buttermilk-battered soft shell crab, buffalo chicken, porkbelly or shiitake mushrooms. The latter is a great vegetarian option.
My daughter and I chose the mushroom bun with tender mushrooms sauteed in butter and garlic topped with crispy fried shallots, chives, pea tendrils and tofu cream. We also tried the porkbelly bun glazed with hoisin sauce and topped with cucumber pickles, pearl onion slices, scallions, sesame seeds and kimchi for a kick.
We also ordered a few regular menu items, edamame because it's great for snacking and their signature butter krab roll because it's a must.
On our second visit we took the lunch menu for a test drive, ordering the ridiculously inexpensive Bento Box (there are four choices on the lunch menu) along with four poke bowl choices, all priced between $10 and $14. The menu is available seven days a week between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
I mean just look at that bento box. It's the PB Classic and the perfect combo if you want a great variety of tastes. It's got chicken yakitori, truffle corn, pb kimchi rice, tuna crispy rice and half a yellowtail roll.
The salmon poke bowl comes loaded with salmon, brown rice, baby kale, bean sprouts, takuan daikon, shibazuke, hiyashi wakame, red onion, edamame beans, sesame seeds, choice of poke, cilantro aioli or ginger dressing.
If you can stop from salivating long enough after reading this I suggest you get in your car, hail an Uber, whatever it takes, and get to Pubbelly soon. Especially before Nov. 30 for the bao buns.
