American Social

American Social is a hot spot for happy hour and watching sports at their idyllic and picturesque Miami River location. On the day I had lunch there, my friend and I watched several very Miami yachts and mega boats pass by, on a weekday no less.

Cocktails came first, and they were refreshing and colorful. I chose the multi-colored Brickell Bay Bourbon with Michters Bourbon, Bacardi 8 Aged Rum, lime juice and simple syrup. The Cucumber Fizz which my friend Antoinette enjoyed has cucumber infused Stolichnaya, St. Germain, mint, cucumber and fresh citrus.

We shared with the chicken skewers with hummus, black eyed peas, pecan tahini, parsley, apricot tzatziki/crudite, naan. It's a really generous portion and can easily be shared by three people, order it, everyone will love it.

I love scallops and had heard that they're really good here so I ordered the two diver scallops with mushrooms, butternut squash, anson mills farro, ginger beer gastrique and arugula. It was the perfect lunch portion with jumbo tender scallops and a wonderful combination of ingredients that made it an ideal entree.

My friend ordered the tuna tartar, by far one of the most colorful dishes I've ever seen. I took a taste and fell in love with the stacked rice, fresh tuna, avocado cream and nuts atop a grilled pineapple slice, served with crunchy wontons.

Their happy hour specials are as good as lunch and the dinner menu is also impressive so grab a seat either on the outdoor patio or inside where there's also a fantastic waterfront view.
