Wanna try Indian street food? Check out CHO: TU in Midtown

Indian street food you say? Yes, it’s got it’s place in the Indian restaurant landscape in Miami at CHO: TU a new smallish fast casual spot in Midtown Miami.

They’re proud to represent all areas of India on their menu. They’re making cuisine from the northern, southern and Mumbai regions. I got to sample several of the dishes and here’s what I had:

Sev Puri

Sev Puri, savory flour crisps seasoned mashed potatoes, mint and tamarind chutneys, onions and crunchy chickpea sprinkles. Interesting use of mashed potatoes, and interesting in a good way.

Bhel Puri

Bhel Puri, puffed rice, diced vegetables, mint and tamarind chutneys and crunchy chickpea sprinkles. Hearty yet light tasting.

Pav Bhaji

Pav Bhaji, mixed vegetable curry, onions, butter, homemade bread rolls. The buns were light as air and the curry had a nice spiciness.

Pani Puri

Pani Puri, crispy semilona shells filled with white chickpea stew, sweet and sour water and tamarind chutney. The crispy shells were the perfect vehicle for the chickpea stew.

Masala Dosa

There was even an Indian crepe, the Masala Dosa a crispy rice crepe with spicy chili spread, tempered mashed potatoes, coconut chutney and lentil curry. Great contrast of flavors, from sweet coconut to the spicy chili and traditional curry.

I liked the look and feel of the place too, from the lovely mural to the namesake sign, it’s fast casual Indian packed with flavor and personality.
