Cantina La 20 keeps evolving prix fixe lunch menu

I've been here many times yes, but each time it's a different experience. That's because at Cantina La 20, Chef Santiago Gomez likes to change things up. They've got a new line-up of dishes for their $25 prix fixe lunch menu and it's worth trying.

Gotta kick it off with a few cocktails. My sister opted for the traditional Margarita and I ordered a lovely blend of tequila with passion fruit, lemon, agave and tajin with a spicy rim. First the hint of spice hits your lips and that's cooled by the passion fruit flavor. Delightful, simply delightful. And they're perfect with the homemade tortilla chips and zippy salsas.

Aguachile

While sipping on those, we enjoyed the mixed seafood aguachile a beautiful array of seafood served with refreshing cucumber, lime, avocado and red onions. Tender, crisp and bright flavors all in one bite, perfect for a hot Miami day. And because it's Chef Santiago Gomez's interpretation, it's art on a plate.

We also chose the classic Oysters Rockefeller except here, they swap the spinach for kale, which goes well with the bacon and parmesan gratin.

I love poblano peppers and one of my favorites are ones stuffed with Oaxaca cheese and served in a tomato sauce. The smokey pepper filled with Mexico's famous mild cheese, all gooey and melted is perfect with the rich tomato sauce.

For a nice light, flavorful dish, the pan seared Huachinango (red snapper) in talla and adobo and served with ajillo and cilantro sauces and a side of fluffy white rice is a great choice.

End your meal with the crepas, light crepes topped with rum-cajeta sauce and crunchy toasted walnuts. Vanilla ice cream puts it over the top. Cajeta = Mexico's version of dulce de leche...sweetness on another level. Just try it, trust me.

Go for the view, the food and especially the wonderful Chef Santiago Gomez, whose delectable menu always offers something exciting and new.
